At the SLB Digital Forum 2024 in Monaco, Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), announced an extended partnership with SLB to enhance the energy industry’s digital and decarbonization efforts. This collaboration will focus on expanding access to SLB’s Delfi™ digital platform applications and deploying new low-carbon technologies to help drive the industry’s transformation.
A key highlight of this partnership includes the integration of Energy Data Insights from AWS with SLB’s newly launched Lumi™ data and AI platform, designed to revolutionize data handling in the energy sector by offering advanced insights and artificial intelligence capabilities. The announcement was made by AWS CEO Matt Garman during the Plenary Keynote at the SLB Digital Forum.
Expanding Access to Key SLB Technologies
As part of the extended partnership, AWS and SLB will work together to bring critical subsurface and wellbore technologies to the cloud.
In 2024, customers will gain access to SLB’s Petrel subsurface software and Techlog wellbore software on AWS, enhancing their ability to optimize and manage energy resources through the power of cloud-based digital tools.
Rakesh Jaggi, President of Digital and Integration at SLB, noted, “There are many dynamic forces at play in our industry that can be addressed through the adoption of digital technologies. Through this partnership, we will provide AWS cloud customers with our industry-leading software to optimize the energy systems of today and those of the future.”
Decarbonization and Low Carbon Technologies
In addition to digital innovation, Amazon and SLB have entered into a multi-year strategic framework agreement aimed at exploring and deploying low carbon technologies across the energy sector. This initiative aligns with Amazon’s broader commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and supports global decarbonization efforts.
Howard Gefen, General Manager of Energy & Utilities at AWS, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “Digital and decarbonization technology companies are essential for this transformation, and we’re happy to expand our partnership with SLB to help organizations scale AI, data, and cloud technologies.”
A Vision for a Sustainable Future
The expanded partnership between AWS and SLB underscores both companies’ commitment to driving innovations that can help the energy industry navigate the complex challenges of today’s energy landscape. By combining cloud capabilities, AI, and low carbon technologies, this collaboration aims to deliver more efficient, sustainable solutions that optimize energy production and reduce environmental impact.
